Beginning in the picturesque village of Tiziane (1,700m), you'll follow ancient shepherds' paths through landscapes dotted with centuries-old walnut trees and fragrant juniper forests.
The trek masterfully balances adventure with comfort, utilising traditional mules not just as porters but as faithful companions that children can ride when their legs tire. Each day's route reveals the fascinating tapestry of mountain life, from watching traditional water mills in action to meeting local shepherds tending their flocks in high mountain pastures.
Evenings are spent at carefully selected camping spots, where the day's adventures are shared over delicious traditional Moroccan meals under canvas. Children particularly delight in the camping experience, with each location chosen to showcase the best of the region's natural beauty – from riverside meadows to high mountain plateaus.
The journey culminates with a spectacular crossing of Tizi Mzik pass, offering breathtaking views of Mount Toubkal, before descending to the welcoming village of Imlil. Your mountain adventure begins with a scenic 90-minute drive from vibrant Marrakech to the village of Tiziane (1,700m). Here, meet your cheerful Berber muleteers and begin your trek through the stunning Téouti valley. After a peaceful picnic lunch, continue to our first camping spot nestled at the foot of Assaka Pass (2,000m), where dinner is served under the stars.
Wake to mountain air and stunning views. Today's route weaves through distinctive red mountains adorned with ancient walnut trees and aromatic juniper forests. Visit the traditional village of Tizgui, famous for its ingenious water mills and terraced gardens. Camp near beautiful highland pastures (2,200m).
An early start takes you to the magnificent Tagdalt Pass (2,700m). This remarkable day offers chances to meet local shepherds and their flocks, far from the bustle of modern life. Descend through a picturesque valley to the authentic Berber village of Tizi Oussem (1,850m) for another memorable night under canvas.
Your final full day of trekking leads to Tizi Mzik Pass (2,480m), rewarding you with spectacular views of Mount Toubkal and surrounding valleys. Descend to the charming village of Imlil (1,800m) for a well-deserved night in a comfortable mountain lodge with proper beds and hot showers.
After breakfast on the lodge's panoramic terrace, enjoy a gentle morning walk around Imlil before returning to Marrakech (90-minute drive). Arrive by late morning, leaving plenty of time to explore the medina's enchanting souks and squares.
This trek is ideally suited for children aged 7 and above who have some experience with walking. The key isn't so much age as stamina - your child should be comfortable walking for a few hours with breaks. Remember, we have mules available when little legs get tired!
Absolutely! The Atlas Mountains are a well-established family destination. Your guide is professionally certified, with years of experience leading family groups. We maintain excellent safety protocols, and our routes stick to well-maintained trails. Our team is trained in first aid and carries satellite communication devices.
The maximum altitude reached is 2,700m, which rarely causes problems for children or adults. We've designed the itinerary with gradual ascents to allow proper acclimatisation. Your guide will monitor everyone's wellbeing throughout the trek.
We provide high-quality two-person tents. Families typically split into parent-child pairs. For families of three or five, we can arrange an extra single tent
We set up a private toilet tent at each camp. While there aren't shower facilities during camping nights, we provide warm water for washing. The mountain lodge on the final night has proper bathrooms with hot showers.
Meals are freshly prepared by our mountain chef, featuring a mix of Moroccan and international dishes that appeal to children. Think hearty soups, tagines, pasta, fresh salads, and plenty of snacks. We can accommodate dietary requirements with advance notice.
Our mules aren't just for carrying luggage - they're available for children (and adults!) to ride when needed. We pace the walks carefully with plenty of breaks.

You'll meet Berber families along the way. Our guides help translate and explain local customs. It's a wonderful opportunity for children to experience a different culture firsthand.
While hiking, comfortable walking clothes are fine. In villages, we recommend covering shoulders and knees out of respect for local customs.
